Half an hour from the city of Glasgow, in the west of Scotland, we find one of the best collections of links courses in the world. The Ayrshire region has three courses where the British Open has been played: Royal Troon, Turnberry and Prestwick, the original course where the first editions were played. We suggest you stay at the Old Loans Inn, a fantastic boutique hotel located in the village of Troon, which this year has won the award for the best hotel of its category in Scotland. There are so many good golf courses in the surroundings that we have not been able to offer you three different golf options:

Option A: Dundonald Links, modern course designed by Kyle Phillips (designer of Kingsbarns) and venue of the Scottish Open for men and women in 2017. Western Gailes, a traditional and centuries-old links, with 8 holes attached to the beach, which has in the hole set Old Tom Morris's favorite par 3. Gailes Links, the 9th oldest Golf Club in the world, still retaining the original lockers in the Clubhouse.

Option B: Turnberry King Robert The Bruce, Turnberry's second course has been rebuilt with 4 new holes along the cliff and the lighthouse, considered by many to be the best halfway house in the world. Troon Portland, Royal Troon's owned course which is one of the best little known courses in Scotland. Dundonald Links.

Option C: The choice for foodies: the three host courses of the British Open: Turnberry Ailsa, Royal Troon and Prestwick.
