CALLAWAY MAVRIK - DRIVER STIFF 9º
Callaway are really pushing the limits of clubhead design. Their latest offering, the new Mavrik controller, has gone one step beyond their exceptionally successful Epic flash range.
As with that driver, Callaway have used Artificial Intelligence (AI) through machine learning to push design to the limits. This is a significant improvement on the previous model.
The new clubface has been designed with a subtle wave pattern to give a fantastic combination of distance, forgiveness, consistency and feel. That has to be the perfect match for any golfer. The face is slimmer and broader than before. Callaway have used Titanium FS2S on the face which is a high end titanium that constantly maintains face ball speed. This is very strong and lightweight, 6g lighter than traditional titanium. When this is combined with the carbon triaxial T2C crown, which is also lighter than titanium, the weight that has been saved is redistributed including a 5g weight that has been positioned lower and towards the back of the head to give a medium level turning speed and a moderate draw bias. It also increases the MOI and gives greater forgiveness.
The clubhead has been reinforced through the use of 2 internal 'jailbreak bars' connecting the base of the club to the crown. This makes the clubhead very strong and very stable. Callaway have also shaped the head in such a way as to give a faster head speed with less resistance. The head contains an internal titanium rib system that gives a deeper acoustic sound when the ball hits the face which gives the club a great sound and feel.
