Golf is characterized by being a sport in which being perfect is rewarded. Every golfer wants to get on with the irons but also in the short game. Power, precision, driving technique, pressure control… There are many attributes that influence the results of this exciting sport. But who is really the best golfer?
It is clear that we all want to have the perfect swing, the ability to avoid any obstacle and the accuracy of the shot that brings the ball closer to the desired point. But all this is a matter of attitude, an attitude in which resilience must be embedded, that is, the ability to adapt to any situation and state.
The technique is not achieved in a day. Although it hurts, one cannot be an excellent golfer in the beginning, but practice makes perfect. It is through it that a player manages to mechanize each of the swing movements that in turn are adjusted according to the moment, point and characteristics of the field or game.
So training is the key to success. This conscious practice of golf makes the player end up developing a strategy which must be flexible and which will end up being developed at the beginning of each game. As we have already told you on different occasions, there are many factors that determine the game. The field itself, the weather conditions, the terrain, the altitude above sea level… All of this leads to the player applying one strategy or another in each situation.
Therefore, it is not only a matter of practice, but also of intelligence. And it is that decision making in the field is vital. It is that intelligence and that capacity for analysis that have to outline the strategy carried out by the player, this being consistent at all times of the risks that an error in the game may entail and of the possible alternatives that arise given the circumstances .
With all this, and although perfection has a prize, a good golfer has to know how to withstand the pressure and trust himself. Believing in your own abilities is a determining factor at the moment of the game. Without trust there is no success. But this is not achieved either if there is no patience. Not only patience in the game but also in your journey as a golfer.
All that said, grab your gear and go to the field to practice. Trust yourself and have the patience to develop your technique little by little. Your strategy will be that key factor that will make you succeed on the field.
